Strategic Goals are:

  1. to improve customer service
  2. to improve communications, and
  3. to empower employees.

Surveys and direct communication are used to improve customer service. In addition to staff meetings, bulletin board postings, radios and cell phones, and the FMD newsletter are provided to our staff to facilitate communications.

The College:

HACC is a vibrant and entrepreneurial community college serving the central Pennsylvania region at five campuses and several centers which enroll over 18,000 degree students. The College has a reputation of excellence in faculty, programs and in student services and is recognized for having facilities and campuses that are equal or superior to those found at major private universities.

Attention to the implementation of various assessment and improvement strategies have transformed the College from a sleeping, stagnant, community college eight years ago to one that has experienced nearly seventy percent enrollment growth since 2000, requiring six new buildings, and several facilities expansions at leased facilities.

  • The College is committed to strategic planning and assessment in order to provide education, training and services in safe, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing environments. The College Strategic Plan (2005-2008) includes significant focus on facilities and campus environments based upon the recommendations from a ten year Facilities Master Plan. This Master Plan analysis has identified Harrisburg campus as a "lean and efficient campus" with plans for expansion as enrollments increase. This may ultimately result in $220 Million of new construction and renovation and facilities maintenance projects.
  • The campus is comprised of 26 buildings, including the CCTA Tech Center and Penn Center in Harrisburg. Many of the buildings were original built in the 60's, 70', and 80's and have been kept in good repair, but many of the building components and systems have outlived their their useful lives. In 2005 the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion and the Grace Millman Pollock Childcard and Early Childhood education Center were added to the campus.
  • Ninety-two facilities staff maintain and provide superior service in 23 buildings with 1.3 million square feet on 275 acres of grounds. In 2003, the College completed a Facilities Management Evaluation Program.
    • Grounds has a staff of 4 charged with maintaining 212 acres, including 8 gardens, 70 large planters, and numerous flower bed displays.
    • HVAC has a staff of 2 and maintains the internal environmental conditions of this campus and other campuses with the support and maintenance of over 400 pieces of air conditioning and heating related pieces of equipment with 24/7 response.
    • Electrical has a staff of 2 with 24/7 maintenance of all high power electrical systems.
    • Automotive maintenance has a staff of 2 for the maintenance of all fleet and maintenance vehicle and other related heavy equipment. Maintenance with a staff of 9 that processes well over 2,000 work orders a year.
