Harrison Ford made a living in Hollywood Hills as a carpenter for a decade before he was cast in "Star Wars" and moved up the ladder from bit parts to superstardom.

This offbeat anecdote confirms what Walter “Corky” Freeburn, HACC adjunct instructor of carpentry, stresses about learning his trade. “If you don’t know the fundamentals, you’ll have a tough time doing the work. No one knows everything. But I take the basics and apply them to reach a successful conclusion.”
