As a student of HACC, you are receiving an exceptional education from one of the most prestigious community colleges in the Mid-Atlantic region. In addition to the impressive offerings in the classroom, HACC offers
many opportunities for learning outside of the traditional classroom experience. These include involvement in clubs and organizations, workshops, lectures, academic honor societies, service learning opportunities,
and other recreational programs.
HACC students create a robust campus environment that complements the classroom experience. Students report that participation in cocurricular learning has helped develop their sense of responsibility, personal
ethics, time management, and cultural competency. This mirrors what employers state they are seeking from college graduates. A general skill set that potential employers are looking for in graduates include developed
and enhanced skills in leadership, communication, organization, and in competence with diverse individuals. As such, HACC students who participate in cocurricular activities are better positioned to excel in their
professional lives after college.
 
In response to the demand for graduates with already developed leadership skills, The Office of Student Life & Multicultural Programs has formulated HACC Leadership Academy. By participating in the academy, students
actively participate in various co-curricular initiatives. By attending lectures, participating in workshops, engaging in dialogues, developing undergraduate research projects, and contributing through service opportunities,
students are maximizing their time and utilizing outlets for the application of what is being taught in the classroom.
