STUDENT COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER TIMELINE
Spring 2010
Applications are available for students interested in being the student speaker for the Spring 2010 Commencement Ceremony. View the Commencement Speaker Application Packet here. (pdf) One speaker will be selected for the ceremony.
To qualify, students must:
- Be in good academic standing
- Have applied to graduate this Spring 2010
Applications and outlines must be received by 4:30 PM, Monday, April 5, 2010.
- Both the application and speech outline must be submitted to a campus student life representative:

- Application materials will be forwarded to the Dean of Retention Services Office (C230) on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, for review and scheduling.
- Qualified applicants will be called the week of April 6, 2010, to schedule an appointment to deliver their speech to the Selection Committee.
- Selected students will be required to audition on the afternoon of Friday, April 16, 2010, or Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Auditions will be available at each campus. Each finalist will be expected to deliver his/her 3-5 minute speech at the audition. There will be a brief question and answer period.
- The Selection Committee will make the selection and applicants will be notified the week of April 20, 2010.
- The selected commencement speaker will work with a member of the Speech or Writing Department to be prepared for the Commencement Ceremony, on May 18, 2010.
- The commencement speaker will be part of the Platform Guests for the Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 6:00 PM, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, Harrisburg, PA.
