ACT 101

Act 101 Counselors
The Act 101 Program is a state-funded program designed to serve highly motivated students who meet certain economic and academic criteria. If you place into a developmental (0 level) course and you have applied (or are applying) for financial aid, you may qualify for the Act 101 Program. Applications may be picked up in the Act 101 office in Whitaker 123 at the Harrisburg Campus or in Room 103 at the York Campus. Should you qualify for the Act 101 Program you will have the opportunity to take advantage of a variety of services:

Counseling Services
The Act 101 Counselors are available to help you with any situation that may arise that affects your education. Should you need academic advising, your counselor can be a valuable resource in addition to your academic advisor. If you don't know who your advisor is, your counselor can help you to get that information. If you are having trouble with a class or professor, your counselor can help you to work through the problem. The counselors also conduct academic monitoring. Academic monitoring occurs each semester shortly before the midterm. Professors are asked to provide feedback regarding your progress in the class. This is valuable information as it enables you to learn how you are doing in the class and allows you to evaluate what you need to do for the rest of the semester to keep good grades.

Your counselor may also help you work through personal or social issues. Adjusting to college can be very challenging and is many times the source of many concerns in the first semester. Stress is another big factor that affects many students. Perhaps you have multiple commitments and feel overwhelmed. Whatever the situation, your counselor is here to help.

Cultural Enrichment
The Harrisburg Campus Act 101 Program provides tickets to a variety of shows held in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center. For more information or to receive a complimentary ticket, call (717) 780-2480. The York Campus utilizes local arts centers. Contact the ACT101 York Campus Office at (717) 780-0328 or x 3522 for further information.
