Health Insurance

Medical costs in the United States are extremely high, and there are no government programs to cover expense should you need to see a doctor or be hospitalized. Most Americans cannot afford the high cost of medical care so they rely on health insurance. For an international student, one serious illness, injury, or catastrophic medical emergency can mean financial ruin and spell the end of his or her educational dreams. Medical insurance is an absolute necessity in the United States. Health insurance is mandatory for international students at HACC. There is also dependent coverage for spouse and children. Dependent coverage is not mandatory.

HACC has contracted with HTH Worldwide Insurance Services to provide the best price and the best services to our students. All international students are required to enroll in health insurance before starting classes.

It is highly recommended that you enroll on-line prior to orientation. Otherwise, you will be REQUIRED to enroll for your insurance during orientation. Please do NOT enroll in the health insurance program if you have not received your F-1 visa or change of status approval yet.

To enroll online:

*You will need a credit card/debt card to enroll on-line
  1. You can enroll online at HTH Students.
  2. Select "I Agree" on the online enrollment page.
  3. Complete the information requested.

  2. If you wish to enroll by completing the enrollment form, please bring your completed enrollment form and check with you on August 11 to International Orientation.

Please note that this insurance plan sold in the United States does not cover "pre-existing" illnesses during the first 12 months of coverage. These are illnesses from which the student has suffered before buying the insurance. Students from foreign countries who suffer from pre-existing illnesses should contact me as soon as possible, preferably before traveling to the United States.
