International Application Procedures

HACC welcomes applications from students from other countries who are are planning to be a full-time international student on an F-1 visa. Applications are recommended to be submitted by the following dates; Fall May 1, Spring October 1, and Summer March 1.

Students must take the following steps to obtain an I-20:

  1. Complete, sign and mail the Application for International Students(pdf). Use Program of Study Code to indicate choice of program.
  2. Submit a non-refundable application fee of $35.00 (U.S. Currency). A check must have a bar code to be accepted. Money orders are also accepted. DO NOT SEND CASH!
  3. Submit an official copy of academic records from the secondary school. This includes a record of courses taken and grades received, graduation date(s) and diploma or certificates received if applicable. Certified true copies of original documents are required, if an official copy cannot be sent directly from the secondary school to the Office of Admissions. In cases where original academic credentials are not in English, certified English translations must be submitted to accompany the original documents. Submitting translations alone is not acceptable.
  4. Submit a signed International Requirement form(pdf), stating that you read the form and fully understand your obligations if you are granted a student visa.
  5. Submit Financial Support Information. Provide evidence of financial support to cover your first year of study. This includes tuition, fees, living expenses, books, insurance, supplies, transportation and other incidentals. (Must include the current exchange rate if not in U.S. dollars. All financial documents must be less than 6 month old.)
    • Submit the Affidavit of Support form(pdf). It is possible to have support from more than one source. Therefore, the form may be copied to enable more than one person to submit evidence of their willingness and ability to provide support to you. Please review the enclosed instructions for completing this form.
    • Attach a Certified Bank Statement or letter from a bank showing the appropriate funds..
    • Estimated Cost Of Living Expenses(pdf).
  6. Submit a copy of your passport if you already have it.

Transfer Students

If you are transferring to HACC from another U.S. institution as an F1 student, you must also submit the transfer information sheet(pdf). All documents have to be submitted and the I-20 processed and signed, no later than the 15th day of classes in your first semester. If you fail to do this, your lawful status will be lost. It is best to submit your financial documentation early, with your application for admission.

Do not plan to travel outside the U.S. before transferring until you have discussed your plans with the Office of the International Admissions. You must return to the U.S. and appear at HACC in time for orientation, registration, and class attendance. You may not travel and reenter the U.S. using the Form I-20 of your previous school. If you do, the regulations require you to return to that school. You must use a HACC I-20 to travel.

If you are not in lawful F1 status at your present school, or if you are in some other lawful status, you should schedule a meeting with the International Admissions Coordinator as soon as possible to discuss your options. While HACC does not discriminate on the basis of immigration status, it is our obligation to you to advise compliance with all immigration laws and regulations and to assist you, when possible, in obtaining or regaining lawful F1 status and all benefits of status.

It is strongly recommended that academic and financial information be submitted together. This will allow the Office of Admissions to process your documents more quickly. Please submit the documents above to:
