Time Management Tips

Each three-credit class will take approximately nine hours of your time each week: three hours in lecture and six hours of study. Most adult students attend part-time, taking one or two classes each semester.

Calendars allow you to identify free time and to schedule work time. You may want to use monthly and weekly calendars. Obtain a calendar with large blocks for each day to enter test dates, due dates and important events. Use a weekly planner to schedule times you must go to college, sleep, work, eat and perform necessary family tasks.

The Center for Academic Success offers 30 minute academic workshops during the day and the evening to assist students with Time Management, Note Taking, Math Anxiety, Test Taking Strategies, MLA Citation (term paper organization), How to Read a Textbook, Learning Styles, Test Anxiety, Taking Essay Tests, The Writing Process, and Writing Effective Cover Letters.

Workshops are offered at the beginning of the Fall and Spring terms. Watch the Adult Newsletter located on the "Getting Started" link for a list of upcoming workshop offerings.
