Drop/Add Course Info

!!! IMPORTANT things to consider before dropping a course: !!!

Effective Date - Drops will be effective the date you withdraw yourself online or a complete Drop/Add/Withdrawal form (pdf) is received in the Registration Office at the campus you attend. Instructor approval (signature and grade) is always required when the refund deadline has ended. You may drop/withdraw from courses through the last class day prior to the start of finals beginning. Once finals week has begun, you may no longer drop/withdraw from classes in a term.

Impact on Financial Aid - If you are receiving federal financial aid, e.g., Stafford Loan or Pell Grant, and drop/withdraw, your financial aid may be adjusted. You are liable for the debt incurred and your eligibility for future financial aid could be affected. Please contact the Financial Aid Office at the campus where you attend for more details.

Impact on Veterans Education Benefits - If you are receiving Veterans Education Benefits, e.g., GI Bill, Education Assistance Program (EAP) or Federal Tuition Assistance, you must notify the Military and Veterans Affairs Office (MVAO) prior to dropping or withdrawing. Dropping/withdrawing may have a negative impact on your Veterans Education Benefits. If you are dropping/withdrawing due to order to active duty, you must bring a copy of your active duty orders to the MVAO.

Impact on Health Insurance - Students who are covered by their parent's health insurance generally need to be enrolled full-time (12 or more credits) to maintain coverage. Insurers often request verification of enrollment. An Enrollment Verification Letter may be obtained from the Harrisburg Campus Registration Office in-person or by written request. Valid photo identification (HACC Student ID or driver's license) must be presented at the time the request is made.

Impact on Health Career Program Clinical Candidacy - If you are a pre- or non-clinical health career student, withdrawing from courses (as well as getting a D or F grade) may negatively affect your clinical candidacy. See your advisor.

You will not be charged for a course drop and add of the same subject, granted the deadline to drop has not passed for the course intended to be dropped. This is true regardless that the refund deadline may have ended.

If you never attend or stop attending class: You MUST drop or officially withdraw from the college. If you do so prior to the end of the full (100%) refund deadline, you will receive a full refund. If you fail to officially withdraw, you are responsible for half the tuition charges. If you are dropped because you stop attending, you are responsible for half or all tuition charges based upon the date of drop noted by the instructor. Additionally, a grade will be assigned if your instructor drops you after the refund period.
