- Montgomery G. I. Bill - Selected Reserve (National Guard) Chapter 1606
- Eligibility
- Enlist or reenlist for six (6) years after July 1, 1985
- Complete Initial Active Duty for Training
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Serve in a drilling National Guard Unit and remain in good standing
- Eligibility is established by a Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE), DD Form 2384, issued by your unit of assignment.
- Benefit
- 36 months of education benefit at the full-time rate (12 credits/semester or more).
- Benefit months are extended if you attend less than full-time
- Benefits extend for 14 years from the date of eligibility (10/01/92 & later) if you remain in a unit.
- Benefits extend for 10 years from the date of eligibility (09/31/92 & earlier) if you remain in a unit.

- Complete VA Form 22-1990, Application for Education Benefits
- Provide a copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility, (NOBE) DD Form 2384
- Provide a copy of any "kicker" forms
- Complete a Veteran's Benefits Request Form (yellow sheet) each semester you attend HACC
- Montgomery G. I. Bill - Selected Reserve (National Guard) Chapter 1606
- Eligibility
- Meet the eligibility requirements for Chapter 1606 and
- Were called to active duty for 90 continuous days or more on or after 09/11/2001 for a contingency operation as defined by the Department of Defense or the Department of Homeland Security.
- Benefit
- 36 months of education benefit at the full-time rate (12 credits/semester or more).
- Can be combined with Chapter 30 or Chapter 1606 to yield not more than 48 months of benefit.
- Application for Benefits
- Complete VA Form 22-1990 or VA Form 22-1995 as applicable.
- Provide a copy of your Active Duty DD 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.
- Pennsylvania National Guard Education Assistance Program (EAP)
- Eligibility
- Enlist or re-enlist for six (6) years.
- Complete Basic Training.
- Serve in a drilling National Guard Unit and remain in good standing.
- Pennsylvania Resident.
- Eligibility established by completing EAP Form 1 and PHEAA Promissory Note.
- Benefit
- Full-time student (12 credits/semester or more): Pays 100% of tuition up to the SSHE cost.
- Part-time student (w/o bachelors degree) Pays 100% of tuition or two-thirds of the SSHE cost whichever is less.
- Part-time student (w/bachelors degree) Pays 50% of tuition or one-third of the SSHE cost whichever is less.
- Application for Benefits
- Complete EAP Form 2 at your unit of assignment for each academic year.
- Students attending summer, fall, and spring semesters must complete EAP Form 2 not later than April 30 each year. (HACC summer classes begin in May, therefore the April 30 date.)
- Students attending fall and spring semesters must complete EAP Form 2 not later than June 30 each year.
- Students attending more than one school in an academic year should indicate both schools on the EAP Form 2.
- Recommend you make and keep a copy of your EAP Form 2 for future reference.
- Notify the MVAO on your campus each semester you expect to receive EAP.
- Change of school, change of enrollment, or change of address must be submitted on EAP Form 3. Enrollment Change/Address Change Forms (EAP Form 3) are available at your campus MVAO.
PA Army National Guard
Federal Tuition Assistance
- Army National Guard (M-day) Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA)
- Eligibility
- Must be in good standing in an active drilling status.
- Benefit

- Pays up to 100% of tuition and course related fees up to $250.00 per semester hour.
- Pays up to $4500 per student, per fiscal year..
- MGIB-Selected Reserve Chapter 1606/1607, basic benefit, MGIB Kicker incentive and ARNG FTA may be combined when a soldier is enrolled in the MGIB-SR at least “Half (1/2) Time” or more (Three Quarter (3/4) or Full Time).
- Traditional drilling soldiers eligible for both MGIB-AD and ARNG Federal TA may receive both simultaneously for the same course. They may exceed 100 percent of tuition cost provided they have not contracted for a MGIB-SR Kicker.

- Use an AKO or .mil e-mail address to receive confirmation of your application.
- Requests for FTA must be completed on www.goarmy.edu to arrive at the Education Office NLT 30 days prior to the start of the course.
- Student must provide the approved FTA e-mail to HACC Student Accounts and provide a copy to the Military and Veterans Affairs Office.

- Army National Guard (Active/Guard Reserve) Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA)

- Must be a soldier in good standing.
- Benefit
- Pays tuition and related fees up to $250.00 per semester hour.
- Pays up to $4500 per student, per fiscal year.
- If using active duty GI Bill Chapter 30 and Federal Tuition Assistance, the two programs combined cannot exceed 100% of base tuition.

- Apply for FTA at www.GoArmyEd.com. HACC currently does not have courses listed on GoArmyEd.
- Eligible AGR soldiers must apply for the Education Assistance Program (EAP).
- AGR Soldiers may contact the Army Continuing Education Office, Carlisle War Barracks, (717) 245-3943 for assistance.
- Requests for FTA must be submitted NLT 30 days prior to the start of the course.
- Student must provide approved FTA forms/e-mails to HACC Student Accounts and provide a copy to the Military and Veterans Affairs Office.
PA Air National Guard
Federal Tuition Assistance
- Air National Guard Active Duty Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA)
- An enlisted member must be on active duty for at least 179 days and must complete the course prior to orders termination. Officers incur a two-year active duty service commitment in order to qualify. TA can be used through completion of a master's program. Member may NOT be currently enrolled in a course. If the member's orders end before course completion, TA is not authorized.
- Students must provide the Education Service Office with a program plan prior to course registration in order to receive TA approval for proposed program courses.
- A member must first qualify for TA by contacting an active duty education services office located at their unit of assignment.
