What is a CRN?

Each class offering of any course has its own unique identification number.

This is referred to as the CRN (or Course Reference Number). Typically, the CRN consists of 5 digits for Spring or Fall semesters and 4 digits for summer semesters.

For example, you might register for a fall section of an online Accounting 101 course which has a CRN of 20001.

.

Each campus provides services for any student who needs to take a proctored computer exam for a Virtual Campus course. Students must show valid photo ID in order to take any tests.

Academic Honesty: The Academic Honesty policy is described in the HACC Student Handbook. All regulations and policies are strictly enforced by the proctors. It is the policy of the proctors to monitor testing carefully in order to discourage any attempts at academic dishonesty.

Scheduling Information: The Test Centers will follow the college calendar. (When there are no classes, the Test Centers are closed.) The Test Center hours are strictly enforced. Click on the campus to see the respective test center hours - Gettysburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, Harrisburg, York. Students are responsible for allotting ample time to complete their tests before the scheduled closing time of the Center. It is especially important for students to be aware of the closing time.

Scheduling Test Time: All Virtual Campus proctored computer exam appointments must be set up using the Computer Exam Appointment Form. Click here for the Computer Exam Appointment Form.

It will automatically be emailed to the Virtual Campus Office or the Test Center at the campus you want to take your exam. You will receive an email confirmation of your appointment when it is scheduled. You will need this confirmation when you arrive at the Test Center. Exams should be scheduled at least 10 to 14 days before the date you want to take your exam. If you send a late request you may not get the day and time you want, or you may have to go to another campus to take your exam.

You will need the following information to complete the form:
- Your FULL name
- Your email address
- Phone Number
- Student Identification number (if you have one at this time)
- Course Name and Number
- Instructor
- Test name (ex. Test 1, quiz 2, final project)
- Location: Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, Gettysburg
- 1st Choice: date/time
- 2nd Choice: date/time (should not be on the same day)

At the bottom of the form click on the campus of your choice for available dates and times at their Test Center. IF YOU DO NOT GET A RESPONSE BACK, SEND ABOVE INFORMATION TO virtual@hacc.edu

While the Virtual Campus and Testing Center staff will do everything they can to give you the time you requested, they can NOT guarantee your requested time. You may also need to bring a Proctor Instruction Form for the proctor to sign. Your instructor will have that information in your course syllabus. If your test is online in Blackboard (WebCT), be sure to bring your course logon information along with you to the testing facility. The Test Center proctors do not have access to your Blackboard (WebCT) logon information.

OFF-CAMPUS TESTING
If you are physically unable to come to one of HACC's four campuses to take your exam, you will first need to contact your instructor to get permission to take an exam with a proctor. If your instructor gives you permission, you will need to secure a qualified proctor, and complete and submit a Proctor Request Form.

To view guidelines for securing a proctor and print a copy of the proctor form, click here

The proctor form will be sent you your instructor for their approval and if approved, they will send it back to the Virtual Campus Office.
