What is a CRN?

Each class offering of any course has its own unique identification number.

This is referred to as the CRN (or Course Reference Number). Typically, the CRN consists of 5 digits for Spring or Fall semesters and 4 digits for summer semesters.

For example, you might register for a fall section of an online Accounting 101 course which has a CRN of 20001.

Online Academy Registration Information

Online Academy Spring 2010
~ APPLICATION INFORMATION ~
Location: All class sessions to be held online in WebCT
Start Date: February 1, 2010
End Date: April 11, 2010

The purpose of the Online Academy is to provide faculty with the training they need to successfully offer their classes online. The college has recognized the importance of this training, and it is included as a requirement for teaching online classes in Administrative Procedure 772, Virtual Campus.

If you are interested in being considered for the next Online Academy training, please follow the instructions outlined below:

  • Complete an electronic application for each proposed course:
    • Complete and submit your application electronically. (The Virtual Campus will seek an electronic approval from the appropriate dean you specified on your application)
    • NOTE: You must be ‘course qualified’ to teach the course you seek to develop, by the appropriate College discipline or department, prior to applying to the Online Academy!
      • If you are currently teaching as an adjunct faculty member, please contact your department chair to let them know you are planning to apply to the Online Academy. This will speed the process of certifying your ability to teach the course.
      • If you currently do not teach for the College, please apply to teach as an adjunct by going to http:/jobs.hacc.edu and filling out an application. Then contact the department chair to tell them that you have completed the adjunct application and that you would like to apply for the Online Academy. This will allow them to complete the certification process.
      • A list of the department chairs is located here. We try to keep this as up to date as possible.
    • Application Period Starts: Monday, Septemper 21, 2009
    • Application Due Date: Friday, October 30, 2009
  • Additional notes:
    • Online Academy is an intensive training program. Basic computer skills are a pre-requisite to this program. When your application is received in the Virtual Campus, you will be e-mailed a link to a Computer Skills Assessment. You MUST complete this Assessment for your application to be processed. Based on the results of this Assessment, you may be required to attend computer skills training prior to the start of Online Academy.
    • You may submit additional material supporting your application through e-mail to djwartel@hacc.edu .
    • Based upon needs of the Virtual Campus, we often target the development of specific courses through the Online Academy. This does not preclude you from proposing other courses for development. A list of targeted courses can be found here.
    • The faculty applicant is responsible for processing a Form B/335 for a course not previously approved for Internet delivery, through the appropriate Academic Division.
    • Enrollment and completion of the Online Academy course does not guarantee employment to teach courses at HACC.
