“I choose HACC because it was a great school that allowed me the flexibility and time to take care of my family and attend the classes that I needed.”

Elijah, a scholarship recipient and emergency medical technician (EMT) student, said, “I chose HACC because it was a great school that allowed me the flexibility and time to take care of my family and attend the classes that I needed.”

In order to overcome any nerves he felt before his first day at HACC, Elijah said he made sure to take his time to acclimate to his new environment. Since then, he has appreciated all the faculty and staff he has encountered. “HACC has a very supportive staff who truly care about the well-being and success of their students,” he said.

As far as challenges Elijah faced before becoming a HACC student, he noted that “I had to deal with a lot of people who underestimated my ability wherever I went, but I made it a point to show just how capable and intelligent I was to those around me.”

After graduating from HACC, Elijah plans to pursue a career as an EMT and then go into nursing.
