Students facing extraordinary financial circumstances can apply for emergency assistance funds. These funds can be used for books, academic-related technology, transportation costs, child care, housing and medical expenses. These funds cannot be used to pay tuition or outstanding bills owed to HACC.
You are eligible for emergency assistance funds if you are currently taking credit courses or you took courses at HACC during the previous semester and you have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Guest students, students who are Satisfactory Academic Progress suspended or on academic probation and students who have previously received emergency assistance funds from HACC twice are not eligible.
Emergency assistance funds can be used to pay for emergency expenses, or to reimburse yourself for emergency expenses you have already paid. HACC will not directly pay your emergency expenses.
To receive funding, please submit the online form below. Documentation of need and a copy of your unofficial transcripts are required.
Once you apply, you will receive a message confirming that we received your application. This message will include instructions for submitting documentation. If your documentation is incomplete, you will have three business days to provide the missing documentation. Once your documentation is complete, a committee will make a decision about the funds within three business days. If the committee approves the funds, we will request a thank-you letter from you. After we receive your thank-you letter, you will receive the funds within five to 10 business days.
Students may apply for emergency assistance funds twice while they are enrolled at HACC, for up to $500 each time. The second application must be submitted at least 30 calendar days after you receive the funding from the first application. Please contact emergencyassistance@hacc.edu for more information.
In addition to emergency assistance funds, HACC offers other resources to students through the Consultation, Advocacy, Referrals and Empowerment (CARE) Center. Students can go to the CARE Center for help with child care, health care, housing, mental health services and more. This is a free resource available to all current HACC students. Please visit hacc.edu/CAREcenter for more information.
