Do you desire to work in a long-term skilled nursing home? The Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) certificate is your first step in reaching your goal. This 120-hour program provides you with a core of knowledge required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators. (Please note that this 120-hour program is only one of several requirements to sit for the PA NHA licensure exam. The candidate must also perform an 800 to 1000-hour administrator in training experience. More information can be found in PA Code § 39.5)

Our 120-hour program gives you the necessary knowledge needed and mandated by the PA State Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators. In our program, you will be taught the responsibilities held by a nursing home administrator, which includes staffing, financial management, supervising residential care, marketing and community outreach. In the end, you will be prepared to sit for the Nursing Home Administrators licensure.
Our program is broken down into 16 modules, which can either be taken within either the fall or spring semesters, or as individual modules to fit your schedule. (Each module can be taken for continuing education units.) In addition, you have the option to take a 15-hour review course that is offered at the conclusion of the program and helps you prepare for the licensure exam.
Upon successful completion of this certificate, you will be prepared to:
Modules are schedule to meet either Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break for 16 weeks.
Our certificate is designed to lead you directly into the workforce. If you wish to continue your education, you may enroll in any one of HACC's associate degree programs.
Once you complete an associate degree, you can continue your education by having your associate degree credits transferred to a four-year school and pursue a Bachelor's Degree.
For your convenience, you may complete this course at our Lancaster Campus through hybrid instruction. Students have the ability to take their coursework though on-campus/in-person instruction as well as synchronous remote instruction.
