HACC And Wilson College Launch New Partnership

Aug. 8, 2002
Officials from Harrisburg Area Community College and Wilson College met yesterday to announce details of a Direct Transfer of Students agreement.

Under the agreement, graduates from HACC are admitted and become juniors in full standing at Wilson College. In addition to the cost savings, HACC students who plan to transfer to Wilson College have access to academic advising and other student services from both institutions.

The agreement is one in a series of agreements HACC has negotiated with colleges and universities to provide central Pennsylvania residents more choices and opportunities in reaching higher education.

"This kind of partnership with highly respected institutions, such as Wilson College, reinforces the fact that HACC students receive a competitive education," says Dr. Edna Baehre, president of HACC. "Students are ready for further study, and those transferring to Wilson College will have a plan in place without repeating credits or coursework."

Wilson College sees this agreement as one more expression of its commitment to educating students of all ages, a commitment that began formally more than 20 years ago with the formation of Wilson's continuing education programs for non-traditional learners.

"The HACC/Wilson agreement is an excellent example of a trend toward innovative public/private partnerships in higher education," says Dr. Lorna Duphiney Edmundson, Wilson College president.
