Lysak and Spohn are colleagues at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where they both teach printmaking. Though their approaches to printmaking are quite different, this exhibit shows how they subtly influence and impact one another's works.
John Lysak received his M.F.A. degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1988. Since 1995, John has been an Assistant Professor of printmaking at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he is the Art Department Graduate Program Head. He is currently the director of Egress Press and Research, a fine art publishing and research component of the printmaking studio at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
Franz Spohn received his M.F.A. printmaking , Ohio State University and is current an instructor at at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Spohn has exhibited widely, including many exhibitions and workshops and inclusion in collections of prints as well as international exposure to alternative materials works in England (National Science Museum in London), Canada and the U.S. as featured in a Ripley's Believe It or Not segment focusing on his innovative work with mosaics made out of gumballs. In addition, he has illustrated several children's books and covers for Doubleday Publishing, NYC. Host and co-producer for instructional video series Eureka! The Creative Art Series, shown on PBS stations throughout the US and Canada. He was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant for the production of this series. He also works as a materials consultant to Speedball Art Products and Faber Castell art materials company.
