HACC Foundation receives more than $5.2 million in charitable contributions - more than any year in the college's 40-year history

HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, raised a record amount of more than $5,240,000 in contributions to the HACC Foundation in the last fiscal year. The funds are used in support of the college's first capital campaign, programs, facilities, and student scholarship aid.

"The HACC Foundation is most appreciative of the many generous gifts received from private and corporate donors on behalf of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion & The Grace Milliman Pollock Childcare and Early Childhood Education Capital Campaign, as well as gifts received to support scholarships, equipment, facilities, cultural programs, and programs at the college." said Maida Connor, CFRE , executive director of the HACC Foundation and resource development.

Some of the leadership gifts received during fiscal 2003-04 are listed below. The complete listing of donors to HACC and the HACC Foundation will be published in the annual report of donors.

$1.2 million -- Select Medical Corporation to sponsor the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion.

$500,000 -- S. Wilson and Grace M. Pollock Foundation gift commitment to name the Grace Milliman Pollock Childcare/Early Childhood Education Center at the Harrisburg Campus.

$500,000 --former Governor George M. Leader & Mrs. Leader to sponsor the Leader Nursing Education Center within the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion facility.

$500,000 -- Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development in support of the Grace Milliman Pollock Childcare and Early Childhood Education Center.

$148,600 -- Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation grant for nursing scholarships.

$100,000 -- Capital Blue Cross gift commitment in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$100,000 -- McCormick Family Foundation gift commitment in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$100,000 -- C. Ted Lick, D.P.S. gift commitment in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$96,000 -sponsorship support received for the annual HACC Foundation Tournament for Scholarships.

$75,000 - Carlisle Area Health and Wellness Foundation in support or Nursing and Health Career Scholarships.

$51,759 -- Carlisle Area Health and Wellness Foundation to fund the Patient Simulator Pilot Project.

$50,000 -- Joseph T. and Helen M. Simpson Foundation, in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$50,000 -- Leon Wintermyer gift commitment in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$47,000 - matching funds from the Whitaker Foundation, to purchase equipment for a new core Microbiology/Biotechnology Laboratory.

$45,000 -- Commerce Bank, N.A., in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$30,000 -- Franklin H. and Ruth L. Wells Foundation to purchase an ambulance simulator.

$30,000 -- Mrs. Anne Leader, in memory of Fred M. Leader, in support of the Grace Milliman Pollock Childcare and Early Childhood Education Center.

$30,000 -- Mr. and Mrs. Harold McInnes, in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$25,000 - United Concordia Companies, Inc. in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$25,000 - County of Dauphin in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$25,000 - Geraldine Murray Foundation in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$20,000 - Tyco Electronics Foundation in support of the Campaign for Scholarships.

$15,000 - David & Virginia Henschel in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$14,000 - The College Club of Harrisburg to establish College Club of Harrisburg Scholarship.

$10,809 - Harrisburg School District in support of Select Medical Health Education Pavilion.

$10,000 - Rhoads Pharmacy & Gift Shop in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$10,000 - Crossgates, Inc. in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$10,000 - Francis & Holly Soistman, gift commitment in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$10,000 - Health America and Health Assurance in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$10,000 - Ann & George Moffitt MD in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion Capital Campaign.

$10,000 - Redcay College Campuses in support of scholarships.

$10,000 - Francis J. Dixon Foundation in support of scholarships.

$10,000 - AllHealth in support of the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion.

Maida Connor, executive director, The HACC Foundation & Resource Development, has recently earned professional accreditation as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

Connor, a fund raising professional since 1986, has also been appointed to the National Board of the Council of Resource Development (CRD) as the vice president for Customized Educational Services. In this volunteer role, she will be responsible for designing and directing customized training for board members and fund raising programs offered by CRD to community colleges nationwide.

HACC celebrates its 40th anniversary this year as Pennsylvania's first community college. HACC offers more than 120 different certificate, diploma and associate degree options and maintains more than 40 formal transfer agreements with four-year schools.
