HACC will host wellness conference

May 7, 2004
Harrisburg, PA - Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) will host a wellness conference in May, in cooperation with Central PA Holistic Health Networker.

The Conference for Wellness through Natural Living will be held at the C. Ted Lick Wildwood Conference Center on HACC's Wildwood Campus in Harrisburg, May 22, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Participants will be able to choose from eight concurrent sessions each hour. A total of 32 informative sessions will be offered, broken into three primary areas of focus: health, nutrition and the environment.

Keynote speaker will be Sudhir Jonathan Foust, president emeritus of Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, the largest yoga center in North America serving over 23,000 people each year. Speaking on "Change Yourself, Change the World," Foust will share his orientation which is grounded in establishing a dynamic balance of body, mind and spirit and translating perennial philosophies to practical tools for skillful living. A member of the Kripalu Ashram for over 20 years, Foust is a long-time practitioner of yoga and meditation, having started a consistent meditation practice at the age of 15.

A speaker, teacher, trainer and leader of a variety of programs ranging from meditation retreats to corporate stress management seminars, his mission is to help people cultivate a living relationship to spirit. His experiential products include "A Touch of Grace: Bamboo Flute Medications," "The Art of Relaxation" and "Energy Awareness Meditations."

The Conference for Wellness through Natural Living will offer practical ideas attendees can use today to make their lives easier and healthier. They will be able to explore the nature of wellness and health, the power of good nutrition, and how a healthy environment influences their lives.

Attendees will pick up easy ways to de-stress their lives, tone and stretch their bodies, and rejuvenate their spirits. Sources for books, classes and practitioners also will be available.

Cost is $75 and includes lunch and nutritious refreshments.

Those without time to attend the workshops can register for $8.50 to attend the exhibit area only, where more than 20 vendors will be present. Register for one of two timeslots, 8 a.m. to noon and 2-6 p.m. Free 10-minute massages will be available, and many workshop presenters will be on hand to answer questions and sign books.

A "Meet and Greet" session will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. for mingling with presenters and participants, book and CD signings, and questions.
