Dr. Anthony Ceddia, president of Shippensburg University, said the programs offered by Shippensburg University at HACC are designed specifically and exclusively to serve students who have completed the associate's degree and or 60 credits of lower division coursework and have met Shippensburg University's General Education requirements.
"This agreement allows both Shippensburg and HACC to continue to provide much needed educational opportunities for residents of the Central Pennsylvania region," according to Dr. Ceddia. "We have long had a very successful relationship with HACC and we look forward to enhancing the services we provide."
"We are thrilled to offer this extension of services on our campuses," said HACC President Dr. Edna Baehre. "This agreement builds upon the existing agreements with the State System of Higher Education: the Academic Passport and the Articulation/Dual Admissions Agreement."
The pact signed today allows students in the Harrisburg area the opportunity to take Shippensburg upper division, undergraduate courses at HACC's Penn Center at Third and Wiconisco Streets in Harrisburg. Courses are also planned for Adams County residents at HACC's Gettysburg Campus, both locations begin offering courses with the spring 2005 semester. In addition, Shippensburg University plans graduate courses in biology at the Harrisburg Campus in the summer, 2005.
Shippensburg University will provide transfer information, admissions, financial aid services, and registration on site at the HACC campus on which the program or courses are offered. Shippensburg University also will provide library services, advising, bookstore and academic support services such as tutoring through a combination of on-site and web-based programs.
Shippensburg University offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in three colleges: Arts and Sciences, John L. Grove College of Business, and Education and Human Services. Information may be obtained by visiting www.ship.edu.
HACC will provide general classrooms, computer labs, science labs, and multimedia equipment for classroom instruction. It will also provide appropriate office space for faculty and academic support services, as well as access to its library and computing facilities.
HACC offers more than 120 different certificate, diploma and associate degree options and maintains more than 40 formal transfer agreements with four-year schools.
