HACC aligns with top area chefs, Williams Sonoma for cooking classes

Those looking to put a gourmet twist on the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, cook for the hunting camp crowd, or just dream of making a perfect pie will find just the class this fall offered by HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

HACC has teamed up with top area chefs and culinary experts to offer a variety of cooking classes in several locations, including Cornerstone Coffeehouse, Camp Hill; Nonna's Restaurant, New Cumberland; and the new Williams Sonoma store at The Shoppes at Susquehanna Marketplace, 2571 Brindle Drive, Harrisburg. Cost of classes at Williams Sonoma includes a 10 percent store discount which may be used for shopping immediately after each class.

Gourmet Twist on Thanksgiving will be offered by Chef La Porta at Cornerstone Coffeehouse Wednesday, Nov. 9, 6-9 p.m. Cost is $50. This class promises dry turkey will be a thing of the past and will feature new exciting ways to prepare Thanksgiving dinner and creative ways to use leftovers.

Quick and Easy Italian Meals for Extremely Busy People will be taught by Chef Moustafa at Nonna's Restaurant, Sunday, Nov. 13, 3-6 p.m. Cost is $75. This class is for those with demanding daily schedules who want the delicious taste that Grandma delivered in years past but with updated recipes that can be prepared easily and quickly so there's more time to sit down and enjoy dinner with the family.

The Holiday Turkey and Beyond will be offered at Williams Sonoma, Sunday, Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m. Cost of this demonstration class with samples is $50. Participants will learn new stuffing recipes as well as a wide variety of side dishes that will create extra interest and a real treat for the taste buds.

Hunting Camp Chow is a demonstration sampling class that Chef La Porta will offer at Cornerstone Coffeehouse Wednesday, Nov. 16, 6-9 p.m. Cost is $50. For those who might be volunteered for camp cook, this class will present outstanding simple dishes that will allow the cook more time outside the kitchen.

Outstanding Italian Entrees featuring Fish will be offered by Chef Moustafa at Nonna's Restaurant, Sunday, Nov. 20, 3-6 p.m. Cost is $75. Early registration is recommended as class size is limited to 15 people. This demonstration class will present recipes using grouper, shrimp, scallops and clams, and everyone will get to taste the finished product.

Easy to Prepare Holiday Hors d'oeuvres will be offered at Williams Sonoma, Sunday, Nov. 20. 6-8 p.m. Cost is $50. This class will show participants how to prepare quick and easy hors d'oeuvres for the holidays. Create an Italian Buffet with Easy Maintenance will be offered by Chef Moustafa at Nonna's Restaurant, Sunday, Dec. 4, 3-6 p.m. Cost is $75. This class is designed to teach participants how to set up a "self serve" easy-to-prepare, low maintenance, attractive buffet with quick, simple dishes that will allow the host or hostess maximum time with guests.

Holiday Party Food is a demonstration/sampling class offered by Chef La Porta at Cornerstone Coffeehouse on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 6-9 p.m. Participants will learn how to prepare simple and delicious party food that will get them out of the kitchen and into the party.
