Jason Rosenberry, newly appointed full-time assistant professor in mathematics, has an M.Ed in Mathematics from Shippensburg University. Most recently, he was the K-12 Math Supervisor at Chambersburg Area School District. He has also taught college level mathematics courses at Shippensburg University and Penn State Mont Alto. The appointment was announced by Shannon Harvey, associate dean of academic affairs, who said that "Jason comes to us with nine years of teaching experience and excellent technology skills. He has a CISCO computer networking certification and is very adept at using SmartBoard Technologies."
Rick Casper, newly appointed full-time Assistant Professor, English, holds a BA in English from California State University at Fullerton and a double master's degree in English and history from Oregon State University. He began teaching at the college level in 1993 at Linn-Benton Community College and Chemeketa Community College in Oregon. "His education and experience includes teaching all levels of writing courses from developmental writing to research papers to business and technical writing," said Harvey. Casper is a member of the board of directors and secretary for the National Association of Developmental Educators (NADE).
Ruth Negley has been promoted to assistant professor, biology, has been granted tenure, and has been appointed full-time biology instructor at the Gettysburg Campus. She taught previously at HACC's Harrisburg Campus for five years, where she was program director and instructor in the Medical Laboratory Technician and Phlebotomy Technician programs. She has been certified as a medical technologist - MT (ASCP) since 1993, as a specialist in microbiology - SM (ASCP) since 2001, and as a clinical laboratory scientist - CLS (NCA) since 2001. Negley is a member of the board of directors and president elect for the Pennsylvania Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (PSCLS).
Linda O'Connor, full-time professor, mathematics, has been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor and has been granted tenure. She has been with HACC for five years. She is the regional campus facilitator for math at the Gettysburg Campus and she serves as advisor to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. O'Connor chaired the committee which developed the college-wide competency exam that is now given to all HACC college algebra students, and which serves as a credit-by-exam for high school students. In 2004, she received the Martha J. Stauffer Mathematics Award, presented to a faculty member who demonstrates an outstanding record of achievement in the teaching of mathematics. She is a recipient of the 2005 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence in Teaching Award, to be presented in June at the University of Texas, Austin.
Katherine Kough has been appointed Assistant Dean, Student Services, Gettysburg Campus. Kough holds a B.A. in English and secondary education from Mount Union College, and a Masters of Education from Penn State University in counselor education. Most recently, she worked in various aspects of student services at Penn State Mont Alto. In her new position at HACC, Kough will be responsible for developing, implementing and supervising all aspects of student services at the Gettysburg Campus, including recruitment, admissions, financial aid, advising, career and transfer services, and student activities.
HACC-Central Pennsylvania's Community College has enrolled 1469 students at the Gettysburg Campus for the spring 2005 semester. Ten full-time professors and 105 part-time adjunct faculty members teach at the campus.
