HACC offers People's Law School and Women's Law Symposium

Two new non-credit law classes will be offered by HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, at its Harrisburg and Lebanon Campuses.

The People's Law School - Sharing the Law with You! will be offered on eight Wednesdays beginning Sept. 21, 6:45-8:45 p.m. Cost is $35. Classes will be held at the Harrisburg Campus of HACC and are sponsored by the Dauphin County Bar Association, Young Lawyer's Division.

The People's Law School is designed to share the experience of practicing lawyers who will provide a basic understanding of the laws which affect us. Each of the eight classes will cover a different topic and will be led by a lawyer or judge experienced in the topic.

The class sessions will be conducted in a question and answer format designed to encourage class participation.

Classes include Criminal Law, The Pennsylvania Court System, The District Justice System, Family Law, Vehicle Law, Consumer Law, Estate Planning and Administration, and Employment Law.

Women's Law Symposium will be offered at the Lebanon Campus of HACC on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 6-9 p.m. Cost is $15.

Six women lawyers will present topics of interest in the family law area. Presenters scheduled are Attorneys Mary Burchik, Loreen Burkett, Rosamond Presby, Collen Gallo, Meghan Ryland Tanner and Ann Kline from the Women Lawyers Committee of the Lebanon County Bar Association, as well as Mary Musser and Elizabeth Ramsey of the Lebanon County Domestic Relations Department.

Discussion will include applying for and obtaining spousal and child support, enforcing support orders, child custody factors and procedures including relocation issues, and divorce issues including division of property and alimony.
