HACC-Gettysburg schedules nursing information session

July 12, 2006
Have you ever thought of becoming a licensed practical nurse? The Gettysburg Campus of HACC will host an information session about its college level practical nursing (PN) program on Wednesday, July 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The program will include discussions on "Becoming a HACC Pre-Practical Nursing Student" and "How to Pay for a HACC Nursing Education." The information session will take place at HACC's Gettysburg Hospital Healthcare Learning Center, located in the mall adjacent to the HACC campus at 731 Old Harrisburg Road.

"We get many calls about our practical nursing program," said Gettysburg Campus Director of Nursing Marilyn Teeter. "People want to know - How can I get started in nursing? How do I pay for it? On July 26, community members and potential students can learn about our practical nursing program and about the admission, application, and financial aid processes - all in one information session."

Students can complete the clinical portion of the HACC practical nursing program in three semesters. HACC also offers an associate degree registered nursing (RN) program at the Gettysburg Campus. "There can be a smooth transition between the two programs," said Teeter. "All PN credits are applicable to the RN program if students decide to continue their nursing education at a higher level."
