Learn how to start your college degree at HACC's Lancaster CampusOpen House scheduled for April 29

High school students interested in exploring all available opportunities for college are invited to learn about the various ways they can get started at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. HACC's Lancaster Campus will hold an open house on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Room, Main Building, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike.

In addition to learning about the college's admission policies, application procedures and flexible scheduling options, participants will tour the campus and get an overview of academic programs and financial aid.

An overall presentation about college admission and financial aid from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. offers important information for students and their parents about the admission process and options that exist that can help pay for college.

Students also get to participate in two of four breakout sessions offered at 11 a.m. and again at 11:30 a.m.

  • What Major is Right for Me? Join a HACC career counselor and learn how to use your strengths and interests to help determine the best career path.
  • Transfer and Dual Admission Programs. Find out more about the partnerships between HACC's Lancaster Campus and four-year colleges and universities.
  • Support Services. Learn about the numerous services available to HACC students, including ESL, disability service, library services and tutoring.
  • Student/Faculty Panel. Current HACC Lancaster Campus students and faculty will discuss topics on student activities, transitioning to college and helpful hints for college success.

Guests can tour the campus after the sessions beginning at noon.

"The open house is a great opportunity for juniors and seniors who may not know that we offer four-year degree transfer programs, two-year degree career programs and specialized courses leading to a certificate or diploma," said Maureen Campbell, associate dean of enrollment management. "In addition, HACC offers affordable tuition, a convenient location and the flexibility to schedule courses when and how they work for you-day, evening, weekend, on video or through the Internet."
