"Balancing Work with Home Life" is topic of HACC's Female Entrepreneur Networking Event

April 12, 2007
Women entrepreneurs interested in learning strategies for successfully balancing work and home life should plan to attend the latest session in a series of free informal networking events offered by HACC's Business Start-up Center. Known as Women's Talkabouts, the series grew out of the annual Women on the Move conference sponsored by Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

The Friday, April 20 session, "Balancing Work with Home Life," will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Suite 231, Three Penn Center, 349 Wiconisco Street.

Sharon Marquart, a successful entrepreneur who is the owner of a coaching business that focuses on education and outreach, will be the facilitator. Marquart is the author of three books and is a popular keynote speaker. She also owned "the Book Factory," a used bookstore in downtown Harrisburg for six years before becoming certified as a Life Coach.

Women's Talkabouts give women entrepreneurs an informal way to share ideas and concerns with their peers, according to Fran Verotsky, director of HACC's Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies.

"It is important for women entrepreneurs to understand that there are other women out there who share the same types of questions and concerns and they can help each other through these 'talkabouts,'" Verotsky explained.

Women's Talkabouts will continue throughout the year, with sessions already planned for June 14, September 14, and November 16.

The Thursday, June 14 session is titled "Getting Business to Come to You" and will feature Laura Clampitt Douglas as facilitator.

Each of the Women's Talkabouts are held in Suite 231, Three Penn Center, 349 Wiconisco Street. Women business owners interested in attending should call 717-221-1311 to reserve a seat. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. HACC will provide a dessert and beverage.
