HACC appoints assistant dean for Communications, Arts and Social Sciences Division

HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, has appointed Diane S. Thompson of Carlisle as the assistant dean for its Communications, Arts and Social Sciences Division.

Thompson, an assistant professor of English, was an adjunct faculty member in English from 1992 to 1998 and has been a full-time faculty member in English since 1998. She also has been the coordinator of the English discipline since 2004. Throughout her HACC career she has served in multiple administrative and leadership positions, including president and secretary of HACC's Faculty Organization, as well as serving on the steering committees for the Middle States Self-Study Report, the Virtual Campus Task Force and the Middle States Periodic Review Report.

Listed in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" in 2000, 2004 and 2005, Thompson is a past recipient of the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award, The "Flo" Award presented by HACC's Lebanon Campus and The Extra Mile Award presented by the college's Office for Disability Services.

Thompson is a magna cum laude graduate of Brigham Young University, where she earned both a master's degree in American literature/British literature and a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish.
