HACC Travels to Philadelphia for Renoir Exhibition

Oct. 8, 2007
View the first exhibition to explore the inventiveness and importance of Renoir's landscapes and cityscapes when HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, travels to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The college's Lancaster Campus is offering the tour on two consecutive Saturdays, Nov. 3 and Nov. 7.

The exhibition features about 71 paintings completed during the first 30 years of the French Impressionist's career. Remarkable in their freshness and immediacy, these works of art demonstrate the deep sources of his inspiration in nature and his fascination with the effects of natural light. The exhibition begins with works from the 1860s and concludes with paintings from the 1880s, when Renoir's travels in Northern Africa and Italy exposed him to new landscape motifs and encouraged his use of an even more intense color palette.

The tour bus will leave Lot N1 on the college's Lancaster Campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike, at 8 a.m. The cost is $99 and includes bus, guide and orchestra tickets. No refunds will be issued after Oct. 19 for the November 3 trip and October 26 for the November 10 trip.
