Halifax artist's ceramics, textiles featured in May at Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop

March 27, 2008
Mary Kelly and her nature-inspired functional works of art will be featured during May at Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop.

Kelly of Halifax found a passion for clay while enrolled in a 10-week course at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. More than five years later, she continues her passion by creating ceramic pieces of art that are meant to be used and enjoyed every day.

Visitors to Radius will find her unique Colonial Bird Houses and Bird Nesting Bottles, as well as original rugs, placemats and other textiles that Kelly crafts in her weaving studio.

These pieces also are available for purchase. Meet the artist at an open house from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 3. Light refreshments will be provided.

Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop, is located on the ground floor of the State Museum of Pennsylvania, Third and North streets. Radius is a partnership of Central Pennsylvania's Community College and the State of Pennsylvania/Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission.

Radius is open 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call Jessica Lantz, Radius curator of arts and assistant manager, at 787-5590.
