A Red Carpet Party will kick off the event at 6 p.m. with paparazzi, celebrity look-a-likes, food and fun courtesy of show sponsor Hollywood Casino. The media partner is Central PA Magazine.
"Forbidden Hollywood" cuts through tinseltown's bombast and starpower with surgical precision. Recent classics like "Titanic," "Star Wars," "Harry Potter," and "Austin Powers" all receive the comic once-over from "Forbidden Hollywood's" cast.
The bigger the production, the harder it falls. The cast revels in its wicked destruction of blockbusters like "Shrek," "Lord of the Rings," and "Chicago." Disney, fattened beyond counting by its recent string of hits, endures a riotous ribbing of its cartoon world and its theme park megalomania. In one of the revue's funniest bits, Sharon Stone takes center stage belting out a twisted take on TV's long-running "Rawhide" show.
An unemployed actor with a dream, a couple of bucks, and a wit that could cut glass, creator Gerard Alessandrini, wanted a showcase for his talents. His first show, "Forbidden Broadway," was a runaway hit. He assembled musical parodies of Broadway shows he had written since childhood into a nightclub act. Critics and audiences were wowed and it has since become New York's longest running musical comedy revue.
"Forbidden Hollywood" yields the same hilarity and spunk as its "Forbidden Broadway" predecessor. No film, brand new or venerable, is safe when Alessandrini wields his nasty pen. Alessandrini keeps the show topical by constantly updating the material. Other actors who are satirized include Keanu Reeves, Melanie Griffith, Cameron Diaz, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise and long famous stars like Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day, Judy Garland, Marlon Brando, Barbara Streisand, Audrey Hepburn, Louis Armstrong, Ann-Margaret and Liza Minelli, who sings "Mein Herr" from the film version of "Cabaret."
