Fall classes offer something for everyone

Gettysburg, PA – Whether you’re a history buff of any era, looking for gardening tips or simply interested in exploring a number of general interest or art, music and crafts, HACC-Gettysburg Campus has a class tailored to meet your needs. Classes meet at the campus, unless otherwise noted.
Several new courses have been added this fall, including:
  • “Fall Gardening in Adams County” offered from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23. The cost is $19.  This class focuses on fall perennial gardening, planting of large trees and shrubs, lawn care and tips to prepare your garden for the upcoming winter season.
  • “Five Common Herbs for Medicinal Use” compares herb folklore with today’s research in this class offered from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28., at a cost of $19.
  • New history-themed classes include a World War II series, including “Battles of World War II,” based on “The Story of a Soldier,” offered 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 30-Oct. 14, at a cost of $59 plus the book; and “Secrets of World War II” about the previously undocumented history related to the interrogation of German, Italian and Japanese prisoners of war, offered 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at a cost of $29.
  • Other history-related classes include “Mary Jameson: French and Indian War Survivor” offered 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at a cost of $25; and “Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama” offered 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at a cost of $25.
  • Among the general interest topics are several offered in October, including “Personal Protection” with tips on personal safety in many settings offered 7-9 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 5-26, at a cost of $79; “Getting Paid to Talk,” which explores the aspects of voice-acting work in various media, offered 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at a cost of $39; “Writing Magazine Articles” offered from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 15-29, at a cost of $59; and “Geology of York County” offered from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at a cost of $39.
  • “Residential Landlord Issues” will give landlords valuable insights in this class offered from 9-11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at HACC’s York Campus at a cost of $35.
  • “Massage for Stress Relief, Basic” will give you simple techniques to relieve stress and relax in this class offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 14-28, at a cost of $55.
  • “Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People” is a beginning class in chord techniques in order to play any pop song, any style, and any key. It is offered from 6-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at a cost of $55 plus $25 materials fee for workbook and CD to be collected in class.
HACC offers a variety of noncredit courses with something for most everyone. Go to www.hacc.edu and click on Noncredit Courses. There you’ll find a list of what’s offered and when at all of HACC’s five campus, including Harrisburg, Lancaster, Gettysburg, Lebanon and York. The link leads you to the Shopping Cart where you can enroll. Users receive an e-mail confirming enrollment.
