Fairy lore, battlefield history -- and more -- offered at HACC-Gettysburg Campus

July 16, 2010
Gettysburg, PA - Whether your interests are in history, personal enrichment or a variety of other topics, HACC-Gettysburg Campus offers a summer lineup with something for everyone in its continuing education division. Classes meet at the campus, unless otherwise noted. Among the offerings are:

  • “Fascinating Realm of Fairies” offered at East Berlin Area Community Center, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at a cost of $25. Discover the history and lore of fairies and their role today. Students will learn about fairy flowers and fairy gardens and how to bring fairies into your world.
  • Florida Brigade at Gettysburg: ‘We are in a death trap”,” offered from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at a cost of $30. Col David Lang’s brigade was the smallest army in the Army of Northern Virginia, and the story of their actions at Gettysburg is often eclipsed by that of better-known units; but the men of Lang’s three regiments were experienced veterans who fought well and sustained appalling loses on July 2 and 3. This program will introduce these hard-fighting Floridians and examine their actions in the battle.
