Live at Rose Lehrman at HACC announces its new 2010-11 season

HARRISBURG — The Live at Rose Lehrman Series at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, announces its 2010-11 season that features an exceptional collection of shows.
            Live at Rose Lehrman invites the community to the second annual Garden Party/Open House in the Rose Lehrman tented Rose Garden Plaza from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. Live at Rose Lehrman and the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery are teaming up to present backstage tours, wine, hors ‘doeuvres and sweets, plus raffles and free gifts. There will be a free artist lecture from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium theatre, featuring painter Vincent Hron, whose works are on exhibit in the gallery.
“Last season was quite a success. It was our best season ever! We are proud to say that we sold out 12 out of 13 performances. Thanks to all of our patrons who support our shows. We look forward to the same high-quality shows in our 2010-11 season,” said Teri Guerrisi, director of performing artist series.
            The 2010-11 Live at Rose Lehrman season features four professional major dance events including RIOULT– Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre, Ballet Folklorico “Quetzalli” de Veracruz for the celebration of Mexico’s Bicentennial, - the dynamic Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, and the percussive, rhythmic dance of Step Afrika!
Additionally, the season features the a cappella sounds of Ball in the House; the 25th anniversary tour of Turtle Island Quartet, the return of “Girls Nite Out” with Diva Nation, and the region’s only presentation of Walnut Street Theatre’s “The Glass Menagerie.” Two family events are scheduled including Missoula Children’s Theatre production of  “The Wizard of Oz”and Theatreworks USA’s musical revue of “Fancy Nancy and Other Story Books.”
            Patrons are encouraged to join The Circle of Friends and receive a number of benefits including pre-sale ticketing and seat selection, the Friends newsletter, and invitations to special events. Friends Memberships begin as low as $35.
            Live at Rose Lehrman is supported by grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour Program, and the Cultural Enrichment Fund. The series also receives support from the Franklin H. and Ruth L. Wells Foundation.
            Ticket sales for the season begin Sept. 7. The new season is online and patrons can buy tickets to events at www.LiveatRoseLehrman.org. Celebrate Mexico's bicentennial with a visual fiesta of culture and folklore featuring music performed on authentic stringed instruments and many regional dances of Old Mexico.

Missoula Children’s Theatre – “Wizard of Oz”
Take a trip down the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy, Toto, the dancing Scarecrow, romantic Tin Man and of course the cowardly Lion. More than 50 local kids will be chosen to perform this humorous, musical rendition.
