'Paintings by Jeff Reed and Chris Feiro' at HACC's Rose Lehrman Art Gallery

Jeff Reed "Lancaster July" - Rose Lehrman Art Gallery
Oct. 9, 2012
HARRISBURG – HACC’s Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus will showcase the work of painters Jeff Reed and Chris Feiro from Oct. 10-Nov. 16, 2012.
A lecture by the artists, both professors at Community College of Philadelphia, will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, in Whitaker Hall, Room 214.  A reception in the gallery will follow the lecture.
Reed is a master landscape painter whose work expresses his love of Ireland. His relatively small paintings include large vistas that intimately invite the viewer into expansive landscapes. Feiro also works from perception, but is drawn to interiors and still life work. Like Reed, he emphasizes the importance of connecting with his subjects. Both artists paint to experience what is before them and seek to transport audiences with their visions.
Reed graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and received his master’s degree in fine arts from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting in Maine.
Reed has been a Returning Fellow at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation Ltd. in Ballycastle, County Cork, Ireland for seven years. Reed received a Visual Arts Fellowship in 1993 and an Individual Creative Artist Special Opportunity Stipend in 2003, both from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. His work is on display at Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia and at galleries throughout the country.
Feiro graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Minnesota College of Art and Design in Minneapolis and received a master’s degree in fine arts from Indiana University in Bloomington.
He has received the Edith Emerson Prize from the Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia. Feiro’s work is exhibited at the Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia and at galleries throughout the United States. His paintings also were included in Seoul, Korea’s 2011 Gwanghwamoon International Arts Festival.
Fall gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, or by appointment.
