GETTYSBURG – The Board of Trustees of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, has named Shannon S. Harvey vice president of the HACC-Gettysburg Campus.

           
Harvey of Gettysburg brings a wealth of experience to her new role, as she has served as a college administrator for the HACC community for 13 years. She also has worked as the acting campus vice president since November 2011. As a member of the college’s senior leadership team, Harvey now will focus on setting strategic direction for the Gettysburg Campus as well as overseeing all operational, programmatic and supervisory activities. Her appointment was effective July 23, 2012.

"Ski" Sygielski, Ed.D.

I will continue to work together with our business and community leaders, donors, elected officials, and school district superintendents to make the HACC-Gettysburg Campus an institution that serves its community,” said Harvey.

           
Harvey’s contributions to the HACC-Gettysburg community are many and multifaceted. As the acting campus vice president, Harvey provided strategic and operational oversight while also leading both academic program planning efforts and fundraising and development initiatives. She has successfully served in numerous key leadership roles, supporting the Gettysburg Campus’ growth to one where 28 degree programs are now offered to more than 2,100 students.

           
Harvey has also worked as both executive and associate campus dean for academic affairs (2003–11) for the campus. In those roles, she led or participated in the launch of all academic programs on campus. Her leadership efforts included initiating the campus nursing programs; career pathway programs for high school students in partnership with local organizations; receiving multiple special initiatives grants to develop additional programming; and coordinating the campus secondary partnership programs to include College in the High School and College in the Tech School.

           
Harvey has a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in public administration from Shippensburg University. Harvey earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in political science from Bloomsburg University.

           
Harvey serves the community in several capacities. She is the past board chair of the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the St. Francis Religious Education Board, and a member of the Adams County Business Education Partnership, Adams County Community Foundation Scholarship Committee, Delta Kappa Gamma,  Gettysburg Adams Chamber of Commerce High School Mentor Program and the Rotary Club of Gettysburg.

           
Harvey’s past community roles include serving as a board member of the Bloomsburg University Alumni Board, Leadership Adams Hanover, Pennsylvania State System Council of Alumni Associations and YWCA of Gettysburg and Adams County.
