Emerging Canadian Artist to Exhibit at HACC’s Lancaster Campus

Zimra Beiner, a ceramics instructor at Millersville University, will display his ceramic sculptures in “Sitting Still,” an exhibit from Sept. 22 to Oct. 29, 2014, in the Art Space in the East Building of the Lancaster Campus of HACC.

A reception for the artist will be held Sept. 24 from 5-7 p.m. Hours of the exhibit are Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public. The artist’s exhibit is sponsored by the Art and Decorating Committee at HACC’s Lancaster Campus.

“My life is expressed in my method of production; the world around me is represented in things that are ubiquitous and domestic,” Beiner said. “Looking, translating and making are continuously mixed together in a loop in which the boundary between art and life become tangled. The everyday is interpreted, re-contextualized and abstracted as a reflection of life passing through me.”

‘The Naturalist,’ Exhibit by David Moyer Opens at HACC on Oct. 8

“The Naturalist,” an exhibit by Williamsport artist David Moyer will be on display in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, from Oct. 8 through Nov. 14, 2014.

Moyer will deliver a lecture on Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Whitaker 214, also on the Harrisburg Campus. The lecture will be followed by a reception in the gallery from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Moyer’s work focuses on drawing and printmaking with a great interest in the written word and books. His imagery explores visual and literary ideas through black and white print media, usually wood engraving. Moyer’s technique employs black line engraving rather than the more traditional approach of white line engraving. His works carry a message, sometimes serious and other times playful.

The Rose Lehrman Art Gallery received state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday and 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, or by appointment. For more information, contact Shawn Williams, art coordinator, at smwillia@hacc.edu or 717-780-2478.
