HACC Gives Away Money for Tuition During Takin’ It to the Streets

Looking to give future students a taste of college life, HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, continues to take its show on the road with its Takin’ It to the Streets campaign and give away money for future students to apply to their tuition and fees at HACC.

Thanks to the HACC Foundation, two $500 tuition giveaways will be available for individuals to win at each the upcoming locations. The $500 may be used for tuition and fees at HACC during the fall 2015 and/or spring 2016 terms.

As future students visit each location, they can enter to win the tuition giveaway, connect with a HACC recruiter, find out how to get started in a particular program or career path and learn about student life at the College’s five campuses. HACC staff will be on hand to answer questions about enrollment, financial aid, scholarships and degree plans.

If future students visit with HACC at the Tec Centro event on June 20, they can complete the entire enrollment process that day, including the completion of the application, placement test and FAFSA form; meeting with an advisor to review test scores and choosing and registering for classes.

HACC Foundation Allocates More Than $70,000 for HACC Programs, Projects

New dental assisting equipment and video recording software are among projects at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, funded by the HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises private contributions in support of HACC. The projects total more than $70,000.

This funding is made possible through generous contributions from individual and organizational donors.

Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, said, “HACC and the HACC Foundation are accountable to our students, employees, alumni, donors, communities and elected officials. Our donors tell us often that there is nothing more gratifying than knowing that their charitable contributions are making a significant and positive difference in our students’ lives. The projects that were funded will allow HACC to remain on the forefront of education, training and technology. These projects will also help ensure that our students are competitive when they graduate and enter the workforce.”

The funding from the HACC Foundation will be used for the following purposes:

Purpose of HACC Foundation Funding Benefit to Students and the College Funded Amount
  1. Replacement and upgrade of dental assisting radiology equipment at the Harrisburg Campus
This project will fund a Nomad portable X-ray machine, ScanX machine and digital panoramic machine for use in the dental assisting laboratories and clinic for instructional purposes and patient care. Having up-to-date equipment will allow dental assisting students to get the proper experience for externships and future employment. $56,195.00
  1. One Button Studio for the Lebanon Campus
This project serves the need for an easier, more efficient method of recording video assets for different user groups, including faculty who teach online and blended classes and faculty who teach in the classroom.
