Audience Participation Encouraged at HACC's Performance of 'Aladdin'
Nov. 6, 2017
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC’s Theatre for Young People (TYP) will present “Aladdin” Nov. 18, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium Theatre of the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus. Pre- and post-show activities will also be available.

“Aladdin,” based on Moses Goldberg’s retelling of the classic story from “The Arabian Nights,” is a performance for the young or young at heart. Audience participation is key as Goldberg used the framework of audience participation to stage his vision. Be a part of the journey and have fun as we follow a boy on his greatest adventure!

“HACC's Theatre for Young People offers an educational and engaging experience for audiences young and old, and (it) is a great first experience for any new theatregoer,” said Garret Knisely, HACC theatre student and Pico in “Aladdin.”

“Our young audience members represent the future of theatre, and their first exposure to a live performance usually stays with them in memory through adulthood,” said Brenda Eppley, TYP director and theatre professor. “As I observe our audiences, my hope is that the theatrical experience that we provide will motivate the desire to explore theatre either as audience members, performers or technicians.”

“Aladdin” is appropriate for ages six and older. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 717-231-ROSE (7673) or visiting hacc.edu/HACCTheatre.

A free pre-show belly dancing class for children attending the show will be held at 1 p.m. in the movement studio of the Rose Lehrman Arts Center. To register, please email Lisa Campbell at lacampbe@hacc.edu.
Post-show treats will be provided for the children, along with the opportunity to meet the cast.
