HARRISBURG, Pa. – Two new funds will benefit current and future students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, including those who demonstrate academic excellence through HACC’s Honors Program.
 
HACC Honors Program Scholarship Fund
The HACC Foundation is accepting donations to this new fund, which will provide at least one scholarship per academic year to a student enrolled in HACC’s Honors Program. The award may be applied to tuition, fees, books or program expenses.
 
In order to graduate with the Honors Program designation, students must complete 15 credit hours in Honors and maintain at least a 3.25 overall grade point average. Students benefit from smaller classes that facilitate in-depth learning and engagement with their peers and professors.
 
Julie Keenan, a HACC Honors professor, said, “The level of conversation is more intellectually challenging. A professor can establish real relationships with the students.”

Charlotte Shuey Student Emergency Assistance Fund
The HACC Foundation accepted a donation from the estate of Charlotte Shuey to establish this new emergency assistance fund for HACC students.
 
Emergency assistance funds allow HACC students to pursue and achieve their educational goals even in the midst of personal crises. Funds have been awarded to help students cover childcare and transportation expenses, pay for books and change their lives in a time of need.
