HACC Looks to the Future with New Coding Curriculum

May 25, 2017
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is partnering with Apple to offer a new coding curriculum for students beginning in fall 2017. The program will initially be offered as one of the College’s noncredit Workforce Development and Continuing Education trainings, with possible credit courses planned for the future.

The course will be based on Apple’s “App Development with Swift” program and will make it easy for individuals to learn how to design, code, test and deploy apps. Students who enroll in and successfully complete the program will have marketable skills that can be applied in a variety of job settings.

“Our goal at HACC is to provide accessible education for everyone,” said Amy Withrow, executive director, Virtual Learning. “We are excited to provide this new opportunity for students and prepare them to enter the booming technology and coding field.”

HACC is among a handful of community colleges in the country participating in the new curriculum. The College has embraced cutting-edge technology and benefited from a long partnership with Apple. HACC launched a series of iTunesU courses in 2012 that continue to be some of the most-accessed courses on the site.
