New HACC Foundation Funds Promote Veteran Success, Innovation

Oct. 5, 2017
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will benefit from generous contributions recently made by the Rotary Veterans Initiative and TE Connectivity Corporation.

Rotary Veterans Initiative Scholarships

The Rotary Veterans Initiative (RVI) has created six new funds to benefit active military and veteran students at HACC who are pursuing their educational and career goals in the following areas:

  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training
  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) training
  • Corporate and business services
  • Healthcare education
  • Manufacturing, logistics and environmental technology
  • Police Academy training

Additionally, RVI established two funds for entering and continuing military and veteran students who enroll in a degree program.

In total, these eight funds will provide $40,500 in scholarships for veterans, active duty military personnel or members of the National Guard and Reserves who demonstrate financial need.

HACC has the second largest active military and veteran student population among public colleges and universities in Pennsylvania.

RVI is a project of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities.

TE Connectivity Engineering Lab Grant Fund

TE Connectivity Corporation donated $13,000 to establish the TE Connectivity Engineering Lab Grant Fund, which will allow HACC to purchase cutting-edge equipment for students in engineering programs.

The funding can be used to purchase a 3-D printer, curing oven, custom-machined tool holder and supplies that will fully furnish HACC’s engineering design lab.

The HACC Foundation and TE Connectivity have been partners for more than 30 years. In 2014, HACC dedicated the TE Connectivity Foundation 3-D Print Lab at the College’s Midtown Trade and Technology Center.
