HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Live at Rose Lehrman (LARL) 2017-18 season begins Sept. 27, 2017, with Bill Miller, a three-time Grammy-award winning Native American recording artist, performer, songwriter, activist and world-class native flute player, at the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.

Miller’s long-standing career has led him to work with some of the biggest names in the music business, from Arlo Guthrie and Richie Havens to Pearl Jam and Tori Amos. His flute playing was featured on Vanessa Williams’ song, “Colors of the Wind,” for the award-winning soundtrack of Disney’s “Pocahontas.”
 
Miller will lead a lunch-and-learn on racial reconciliation at noon on Sept. 27 in Whitaker Hall, Room 214. The LARL performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.
 
From Miller’s native flute playing to shadow dancing and a Celtic Christmas, LARL’s 2017-18 season performances showcase a blend of dance, music and theatre.

Catapult – Oct. 11, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
The shadow-dance company Catapult was founded in 2009 by Adam Battlestein, choreographer, creative director and 19-year master teaching artist for Pilobolus Dance Theatre. The group catapulted to fame on Season 8 of “America’s Got Talent,” earning their way to the finals of the NBC-TV hit show.


Cherish the Ladies – “Celtic Christmas” – Nov. 28, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
For more than three decades, Cherish the Ladies has shared timeless Irish traditions and good cheer with audiences worldwide. They’ve brought their signature blend of instrumental talents, beautiful vocals and stunning step dancing to the White House, the Olympics and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) with their special, “An Irish Homecoming.”


Lehrer Dance – Jan. 31, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.
Under the direction of Jon Lehrer, the company fosters choreography that is organic, artistic, accessible and often humorous, reflecting life experience and the human condition. The Lehrer Dance style is based on three main elements of movement: circularity, three-dimensionality and momentum which combines to create a form that is best described as “organically athletic.”






L.A. Theatre Works – “The Mountaintop” – Feb. 15, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.
“The Mountaintop,” winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Play, gives glimpse into what may have transpired in the overnight hours of April 4, 1968, before the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated  in Memphis, Tennessee. King’s hopes, regrets and fears create a masterful bridge between mortality and immortality in this play that marks the 50^th anniversary of his death. Some content and language within the show are appropriate for mature audiences only.



Curtis on Tour – March 15, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.
Curtis on Tour celebrates the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, a Curtis Institute of Music alumnus, with a program of American music. The celebration will include Broadway and classical works by Bernstein, Copland and Gershwin.
