HACC Theatre Presents 'Lord of the Flies'

March 20, 2018
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC theatre students will present an adaptation of the timeless classic “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding, April 20-22, 2018, at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center

The play is adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams, directed by HACC theatre professor Dave Olmsted and stage managed by HACC student Jessi Gillingham.

“Lord of the Flies” tells the tale of a group of British schoolboys that crashes on a deserted island. Before long, this well-behaved group turns into a bloodthirsty and murderous tribe.

Olmsted said, “I first read the novel when I was about 9 years old and instantly fell in love with it. When I discovered there was a stage version, I knew that someday I wanted to direct it and bring this incredible story and its message to a whole new audience via the theatre. An exciting element of this production is that we are portraying one of the characters as transgender. This adds a further dimension of tolerance and brutality, and how society often strikes out at what it does not understand.”

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors, military or veterans and HACC employees.
