HACC Foundation Addresses Student Needs through New Funds for Excellence

May 13, 2020
HARRISBURG, PA – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is proud to consider our students in every decision we make. Many of our students must balance chaotic work and personal lives with enriching classwork aimed at providing them with a quality, life-changing education. The global coronavirus pandemic has resulted in additional hurdles for them to face.

The HACC Foundation recently created three funds to help provide additional resources necessary to help students successfully navigate the many barriers associated with earning a college education.

  • The Fund for Excellence for CARE was created to minimize student hardships – such as food insecurity, housing insecurity and financial crises – so that they can focus on their studies and become productive members of our community.
  • The Fund for Excellence for Learning Commons provides access to resources vital to students’ academic success, including testing, tutoring, library and technology support.
  • The Fund for Excellence for Open Educational Resources (OER) was developed to provide equal access for all students – no matter their socioeconomic status. OERs are academic materials that can be freely shared at no cost or at a heavily discounted cost.

HACC and the HACC Foundation will continue to advocate for our students and create an environment in which all students can reach their full potential.
