HACC Celebrates Spring and Summer 2022 Graduates

SpringCommencement2022_600 Ceremony held May 10 at the Giant Center
May 10, 2022
HERSHEY, Pa. – HACC welcomed the College’s newest alumni during its May 10, 2022, Commencement ceremony, including eight high school students who earned a college credential.

More than 525 of the 1,230 students eligible to graduate in spring and summer 2022 walked across the stage at the Giant Center to receive their associate degrees, certificates and diplomas from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, at the Commencement ceremony.

They were joined in the celebration of this milestone by their family, friends and members of the HACC community.

Among the graduates were Emily Swann of Liverpool and seven other high school students who were able to earn their college credential through HACC’s Dual Enrollment Program that allows high school juniors and seniors to earn HACC credits.

Swann, who earned an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in paralegal studies, will graduate from Greenwood High School on June 3 and plans to attend Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida, and major in political science.

In addition to Swann, six of the other graduating high school seniors earned associate degrees and one earned a certificate in liberal studies.

HACC provides students with the skills and knowledge to immediately enter the workforce or, like Robert Taylor, transfer their earned credits to four-year institutions while saving thousands of dollars.

Taylor, who earned an Associate in Arts in social services, plans to transfer to Shippensburg University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work. Listen to why Taylor feels blessed to be a part of the HACC community.

“You are here tonight because you persevered despite obstacles thrown your way. You met the challenges with tenacity and courage and conquered them. Looking over the sea of beaming faces in the audience – yours and those of your loved ones and mentors – brings joy and pride not only to me but the HACC nation. Congratulations on accomplishing this significant chapter in your lives and know you are wished well going forward,” Sygielski said.
