We take data security and the privacy of your personal information very seriously. HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, (HACC) has established this policy and security measures described below to protect the following types of personal information that may be requested from you as you visit our websites.

Websites Covered by this Policy
This policy applies to official websites only. This includes websites of academic and administrative units of the College that contain "hacc.edu" in the URL address. Unofficial or individual websites of students, faculty, and staff should not request confidential and personally identifiable information from website visitors. You should not provide any of these types of information when in doubt about the authenticity of a webpage.

HACC’s website (the “Site”) does not collect personal information about our website users, unless you choose to submit such information to us. If you choose to send us a message or fill out an electronic form with personal information, we will use the information only for the purposes you authorized .

HACC’s website may contain links to other websites not affiliated with the College. HACC is not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of other sites for assurance that their practices safeguard your privacy.

The Information We Collect and How It Is Used
Our website, our analytics software, and selected third-party online advertising networks store fragments of information, called cookies, in your web browser. The College uses these cookies to measure the performance of our advertising and website's content, functionality, or services. Please review your internet browser's help file for instructions on rejecting or deleting cookies.

Our servers automatically recognize the domain and Internet Protocol (IP) address from which you accessed our website, and we record related information that helps us make our website more accessible. Related information may include (but is not limited to) IP address, version of your operating system and web browser, your internet service provider, referring pages, time spent on each page of the Site and clickstream data that records your use of the Site.

We may collect, store and use anonymous information for various purposes including Site research, administration of the Site, tracking users’ movements around the Site, gathering information about our users, measuring Site activity and developing ideas for improving the Site. This information does not result in the identification of your personal e-mail address or any other personal information. Personally-identifiable information about enrolled students is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, also known as FERPA, and administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

How We Protect Your Information
The College is committed to ensuring the security of your information. We have put in place reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access to or use of the information collected online. All personally identifiable and confidential data collected or processed by the College must comply with the security controls and systems and process requirements and standards of the College’s Acceptable Use of Technology Handbook.

If you have concerns regarding the security of a HACC webpage, notify the College webmaster by e-mail at webmaster@hacc.edu. Be sure to provide the web address (the complete URL) of the page which asked for the information when emailing the webmaster.

Online Accounts and Passwords
Our students, alumni, and employees are provided online passwords that are unique to their accounts. Individuals interested in attending the College will be required to establish a password if applying online. Your passwords are designed to protect your accounts from unauthorized use. You should guard your passwords and not provide them to anyone. The College will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, or otherwise disclosed passwords. College employees will never ask you for your passwords. If you have forgotten your passwords, you can request that they be reset. Please view the College’s Password Policy for more information.

Changes to our Privacy Policy
This privacy policy was last updated on Sept. 9, 2019. Any changes or amendments to this policy will be updated on this page. Advances in technology, legal developments, and new policies and practices may necessitate changes in or updates to this privacy statement. We reserve the right to change this policy without notice. It is the responsibility of users to check this page for changes to this policy.
