Meet Rediate Balcha

“HACC was more affordable than the other schools throughout the local area.”

Rediate Balcha hit the host family jackpot! She attended Elizabethtown Area High School in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, as an exchange student from Ethiopia, then decided to stay in the area and continue her education at HACC. She continued to live with her host family while she attended college.

Rediate knows that HACC is more affordable than other institutions in the area. In fact, HACC is approximately 25% less than the average full-time tuition at nearby four-year institutions! She also knows that HACC students can easily transfer to four-year schools.

HACC has provided Rediate with a multitude of educational experiences, and if HACC were not an option, she said, “I would be missing out on an excellent educational experience.”

She thanks Jackie Lowe, administrative office specialist in the tutoring and testing office, for always being available to listen. “She is available to all students who need someone to talk to and offers assistance or advice as needed.” HACC’s tutoring centers offer academic support services and resources to help students succeed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

After graduation, Rediate plans to work for a year as a medical laboratory technician, then transfer her earned credits to Penn State Harrisburg to get her bachelor’s degree.
