“Most importantly, I have learned to just breathe. It doesn’t have to always go according to plan to still work out perfectly fine.”

Mandy Lynn Six, director of enrollment services at the Harrisburg Campus

  • What do you do at HACC?
I lead the enrollment services team at the Harrisburg Campus. We serve students in-person, by telephone and through email to assist them with any registration, student account or general questions they may have during their time at HACC.

  • How old are your children?
    24, 18 and 15

  • How are you effectively juggling your professional duties and your personal duties of having your children at home while you work? While my children are all older, I have had to do some juggling in regard to my daughter’s illness, which includes doctor visits and daily treatments. I have tried to come up with a schedule to make sure she is taken care of, that my youngest is logging in and doing what he needs to do virtually for his school requirements and that I am able to have “set” hours to work from home.

  • What tips (things to do and things to not do) would you offer to other parents who are struggling with this?
I admit the first week was trial-and-error until I figured out what worked with our crazy schedule of going to Hershey each day prior to starting my work day. I have learned that coming up with some type of a schedule has helped everyone have some structure in their day, which has made adapting to our new circumstances more comfortable for everyone. And, most importantly, I have learned to just breathe. It doesn’t have to always go according to plan to still work out perfectly fine.
