The Harrisburg Area Community College Foundation Millennium Golf Classic to raise scholarship money for financially needy students will get underway at the Country Club of Hershey's West Course with Pro-Am day on Monday, October 2, beginning at 12:15pm.

Since 1996, the HACC Foundation's Central Pennsylvania Pro-Am Golf Classic has raised more than $250,000 in scholarship aid for talented HACC students at the Wildwood, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Gettysburg Campuses. This year's Millennium Golf Classic will finance approximately 400 new student scholarships.

Students from HACC who have received scholarship monies generated from Golf Classic events will serve as event ambassadors and hosts, meeting the scholarship donors during the golf tournament.

"We are in our fifth year of successfully raising funds for scholarships with the Central Pennsylvania Golf Classic. The contributions to this very worthwhile event have made the dream of higher education an affordable reality to students of this region," says Mr. Dixon.

Each team in the pro-am competition will consist of four amateurs and one professional. Each member of the winning team will receive a $500 gift certificate from the Pro Shop at the Country Club of Hershey.

Top golf professionals from area country clubs such as West Shore, Valley Green, Blue Ridge, Hershey, Lancaster, Colonial, Royal Oaks, Dauphin Highlands, as well as professionals from around the state will compete in the professional tournament beginning at 9am on Tuesday, October 3. Frank J. Dixon, director of this year's HACC Foundation Millennium Golf Classic, and Dr. Edna V. Baehre, HACC president, will be on hand to present the winner of the professional competition with the trophy and a check for $5000.
