The Lebanon Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College will hold a Transfer Day and Distance Education Open House on Wednesday, November 7.

Colleges and universities where HACC students traditionally transfer will be represented at the Lebanon Campus from 10am to 2pm, and then from 4pm to 7pm. The Distance Learning Open House will be held at in the Multipurpose room from 7pm to 9pm.

Many of the colleges and universities attending Transfer Day have dual admission agreements with HACC.

"A dual admission agreement with HACC enables students to take advantage of the resources of both institutions where they are admitted," says Barb Grandia, assistant professor of counseling at the Lebanon Campus. "Students have financial aid opportunities at both institutions, and have access to academic and career advising services, as well as library resources and use of campus facilities."

Students can have their current transcripts from other colleges and programs evaluated by scheduling an appointment that day between 9am and 4pm. Students are asked to contact the Lebanon Campus at (717) 270-4222 to schedule an appointment, and bring a copy of unofficial transcripts to the appointment.

The Distance Learning Open House, in the Multipurpose Room, will offer information on Internet classes, and demonstrations of an Internet course. Participants will be able to get an overview of online research techniques as well. Registration for Internet classes for the spring semester will be available.

Distance learning is comprised of three different kinds of courses: compressed video, videocourses, and Internet (online) courses. Distance Education courses are academically equivalent to traditional courses, and credits can be applied to HACC degree programs or transfer the same way as on-campus sections of the same course.

The public is welcome to attend. For more information about Transfer Day or the Distance Education Open House, contact the Lebanon Campus at (717) 270-4222.
